Maruti Suzuki has silently updated the Zeta trim of Ignis micro-SUV with the latest Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment system in the Indian market. The updated Maruti Ignis Zeta manual and automatic price starts at Rs 5.98 Lakhs and Rs 6.45 Lakhs (Both the prices are Ex. Showroom, Delhi), respectively. Being retailed via the NEXA premium chain of dealerships, the updated version costs nearly Rs 9,000 more than the preceding models which featured a 2-DIN music system as standard. It rivals Hyundai Grand i10 and Mahindra KUV100 NXT in India.

The Zeta trim is the mid variant which sits below the flagship Alpha grade. Needless to say, Maruti Ignis Alpha is fully loaded with premium features. But now the company has added a factory fitted touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the Zeta trim as well in place of the outdated and ordinary 2-DIN audio player. The screen of Smartplay Studio system also acts as a reverse parking camera while simultaneously showing the guidelines of the rear parking sensor. Maruti Ignis Zeta is already equipped with a myriad of bells and whistles in the form of alloy wheels, steering mounted audio controls, rear wiper and washer etc. to name. However, it is deprived of LED headlamps with DRLs and automatic climate control, which are on offer with top-end Alpha trim.

Mechanically, it is unchanged as the same BS6 compliant 1.2L K-Series petrol engine powers the micro-SUV. The engine develops a top power of 82bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 113Nm at 4000rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while an AMT gearbox is also available. Maruti Suzuki had launched the facelifted version of Ignis with cosmetic and mechanical updates in India in February this year, right after the conclusion of 2020 Auto Expo where it was unveiled. It was the first update for the micro SUV ever since its launch in January 2017 in the Indian market.
